Places to Visit

Crater Lake

A trip to Oregon is not complete without a day trip to Crater Lake. It is a two hour drive from our place with a stop at a small rural restaurant that features world famous home made pies. Crater Lake National Park and Web Cam

Rogue River

Another of our favorite places to take friends is for a jet boat trip down the Rogue River. Of course, we like the trip that includes the BBQ. This is a great way to spend a hot afternoon. Hellgate. The season ends when low water conditions occur around mid September.

Two outstanding cultural attractions are the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in Ashland, OR and the The Britt Festival in Jacksonville, OR both located about 45 minutes from Gold Hill. Both Ashland and Jacksonville are great day trips and when in Jacksonville a lunch at the Jacksonville Inn is a special treat. The Mount Ashland area boasts great skiing and hiking.

Casinos

There are quite a few Casinos run by local Native American Tribes in the Oregon area. Lots of penny and nickel slots which Jane feels are much looser that either Vegas or Connecticut plus really good buffets. The closest and one of our favorites is the Seven Feathers Casino located about an hour north of us. Over on the Coast in Coos Bay is another favorite The Mill Casino. Also Spirit Mountain Casino and Chinook Winds Casino
